hey everyone,

i was hoping to find some information on turboprop/shaft engines as i want to put one in an rc car not a plane, if they wouldnt work to well than i'll just have to go with a turbine jet

Hi Aaron, you might want to check out Jetcat in the USA. They do a one, also do one for a boat.
Interesting idea jet in a car. Lots of fun with that.

I got another question about turboprop engines, do they have a neutral gear (?) or do they start rotating from firing up ???

Aaron, a quick guess would be they start rotating as the turbine spins up.

Hi Scott and Aaron,

Jet Central do indeed make a "Turboprop" engine which could probably be converted to turbo-shaft. With regards to the shaft turning upon engine start, essentially yes but a centrifugal clutch can be fitted to allow progressive power application as rpm rises. I believe some turbine powered helicopters use this type of setup.
