Afterburning JJ1800...! 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey All,
I've taken a few pics of my JJ1800 fitted with an afterburner, hope you enjoy. In it's current state it produces just over 27lbs of static thrust.

I had the thrust slightly higher than this a month or two ago but the A/B exhaust temps were through the roof, so I modified the system somewhat to bring the temps down to a useable level.

Hi Brett,
Why does the jetjoe range use marine oil instead of turbine oil??
Feedback appreciated, Gavan

Hey Gavan,
To be honest, most model turbine engines can use and will happily run on a variety of oils and fuels, however, the manufacturer of each engine type will have extensively tested their engines with a "prefered" fuel and oil combination. Often the warranty of an engine can be voided if the manufacturer recommended fuels and oils aren't used exclusively.

The Jet-Joe range of engines will happily run on Kerosene, Jet A-1 and even a good quality diesel fuel, when it comes to the oils, most manufacturers tend to go for the quality synthetic turbine oils such a Mobil Jet-II and similar, but their are a variety of good quality synthetic two-stroke oils such as the one you mention which do an admirable job.

Also some manufacturers will have a specific lubrication system within their engines and will specify the required mix of oil in the fuel, Jet-Joe engines use 5% whereas Jet-Central Artes recommend 2.5%.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Cheers,
Smithy.

Hi Smithy

New to Ausjets and forum, does this mean warranty is void if JJ is run on Mobil Jet2

Cheers
Eric
